Maritime Training Institute (MTI), Powai (Mumbai), operated by the Shipping Corporation of India Ltd. (SCI), a Government of India 'Navratna Enterprise', is invites applications for recruitment of faculty and instructor positions. These roles are available on a full-time contract basis and visiting basis for the Nautical subjects/ courses and Marine Engineering subjects/ courses. ✅ Age Limit:
Not be more than 70 years as on 1st November 2024 as per DGS Guidelines. He or She Should be physically and mentally fit for carrying out the duties as required.
✅ Monthly Salary (Pay Scale):
✔️ Full-time Faculty: ₹ 1,35,000/month (TDS), no additional perks;
✔️ Visiting Faculty: ₹ 1200/hour (Master Mariners/Chief Engineers) or ₹ 900/hour (others) + ₹ 500/day conveyance;
✔️ Full-time Instructors: ₹ 45,000/month (TDS), no perks;
✔️ Visiting Instructors: ₹ 1250/8-hour shift + ₹ 300/day conveyance, all rates subject to change by MTI (SCI) management.
✅ Eligibility Criteria:
1. Nautical Faculty:
Qualification: Holding COC of Master Mariner (Foreign Going Ship) issued by DG Shipping.
Minimum Requirement: Must have sailing experience on merchant ships as a management officer for a total of 7 years or more, with at least 2 years of Command experience.
Preference: Given to faculty with 2 years of experience in teaching/training for Chief Mates, Masters COC courses, VICT/TOTA, TSTA, AECS Certified, and Simulator courses like ROC, ARPA, ECDIS, etc.
2. Nautical Faculty (Passenger Ship):
Qualification: Holding COC of Master Mariner (Foreign Going Ship) issued by DG Shipping.
Minimum Requirement: Must have sailing experience on Passenger ships as a management officer for at least 1 year.
Preference: Given to faculty with 2 years of experience in teaching/training for Chief Mates, Masters COC courses, VICT/TOTA, AECS, TSTA, and Simulator courses like ROC, ARPA, ECDIS, etc.
3. Marine Engineering Faculty:
Qualification: Holding COC of Marine Engineer Officer Class I (Unlimited Horse Power) of a Foreign Going Ship by D.G. Shipping.
Minimum Requirement: Must have sailing experience on merchant ships as an Engineer officer for 7 years or more.
Preference: Given to faculty with experience in teaching/training for GME, Class-IV MEO, Class-I & II MEO COC courses, and courses like LNG, TASCO, GASCO, etc.
4. Radio Officer/GMDSS Faculty:
Qualification: Holding COP Second Class/General Class of Radio Officer issued by Ministry of Communications, New Delhi, and valid GMDSS GOC Certificate (Indian) issued by Ministry of Communications & Information Technology.
Minimum Requirement: Must have sailing experience on merchant ships for 5 years or more as a Radio Officer.
Preference: Given to candidates with Indian COP II Class or ROGC & VICT/TOTA, TSTA.
5. Naval Architect:
Qualification: Graduate in Naval Architecture from AICTE registered colleges.
Minimum Requirement: Not specified.
Preference: Given to those with experience in Ship building and possessing VICT or TOTA Certification.
6. Academic Faculty (Applied Physics, Applied Maths, English & Electronics):
Qualification: Mandatory Master’s Degree in the respective branch.
Minimum Requirement: Must have teaching experience of 3 years or more as a Lecturer or Professor in the respective subject.
Preference: Not specified.
7. Instructors (Deck/Engine Petty Officers):
Qualification: Deck Petty Officer or from Ex Indian Navy Seaman Branch, or Engine Petty Officer or from Ex Indian Navy Engineering Branch.
Minimum Requirement: Sailing experience as a Deck/Engine Petty Officer on Merchant Ships or Naval ships.
Preference: TOTI or VICT certification is mandatory.
8. Workshop Instructors:
Qualification: Trade certificates from ITI or equivalent experience acceptable to DG Shipping for skills like Engine Fitting, Carpentry, Physics, and Yoga.
Minimum Requirement: Instructors in employment/contract/empanelment at DGS approved Pre-sea training Institutes for 3 years or more are exempt from trade certificate requirements.
Preference: Not specified.
9. Electro Tech Officer/Electrical Officer:
Qualification: Not specified beyond sailing experience.
Minimum Requirement: Should have sailing experience as an electrical officer or ETO.
Preference: VICT or TOTA Certified.
10. Physical Training Instructor:
Qualification: Not specified.
Minimum Requirement: Should have two years of experience in Physical Training.
Preference: Given to ex-armed forces APTC.
11. Medical Officer:
Qualification: At least MBBS Degree.
Minimum Requirement: Should have 3 years of experience.
Preference: Given to candidates with 3 years of experience in a Training Institute.
12. Medical Instructor:
Qualification: At least B.Sc. Nursing.
Minimum Requirement: Should have at least two years of experience.
Preference: Given to candidates with experience in a training institute.
13. IT Instructor:
Qualification: At least a Computer Diploma Holder.
