UPSC Geoscientist 2025: 85 Posts, Notification, Online Form

The UPSC Geoscientist Notification was released on September 4, 2024, for the recruitment of 85 positions, including Geologists, Geophysicists, Scientists, and Chemists. The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) invites online applications from male, female, and transgender Indian citizens for the Combined Geo-Scientist Examination 2025. The online registration process for UPSC CGSE 2025 will start on September 24, 2024, and end on September 24, 2024. The UPSC Combined Geo-Scientist (Preliminary) Examination 2024 is scheduled to be held on February 9, 2025, and the Main Examination will take place on June 21 and 22, 2025.

UPSC Geo Scientist Age Limit: 21 to 32 Years as on 1st January 2025. i.e. he/she must have been born not earlier than 2nd January 1993 and not later than 1st January 2004.

UPSC Geo Scientist Eligibility Criteria:

✔️ Chemist Gr ‘A’ and Scientist ‘B’ (Chemical): M. Sc. in Chemistry or Applied Chemistry or Analytical Chemistry from a University incorporated by an Act of Parliament or State Legislature or other educational Institutes established by an Act of the Parliament or declared to be deemed Universities under section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956 i.e. recognized University.

✔️ Scientist ‘B’ (Hydrogeology): Master’s degree in Geology or applied Geology or Marine Geology or Hydrogeology from a University incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other educational Institutes established by an act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as Universities under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956.

✔️ Scientist ‘B’ (Geophysics) and Assistant (Hydrogeologist) : Master of Science degree in Physics or Applied Physics or Geophysics or Applied Geophysics or Marine Geophysics or Integrated M.Sc. (Exploration Geophysics) or M.Sc (Technology) (Applied Geophysics) from a University incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other educational Institutes established by an act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as Universities under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956.

✔️ Assistant (Chemist): Master of Science or Integrated Master of Science in Chemistry or Applied Chemistry or Analytical Chemistry or Physical Chemistry or Inorganic Chemistry or Organic Chemistry or Hydro-Chemistry or Industrial Chemistry from a recognized university or institute.

UPSC Geo Scientist Application Fee: Candidates are required to pay a fee of ₹ 200/- either by depositing the money in any Branch of SBI by cash, or by using net banking facility of SBI (State Bank of India) or by using Visa/ Master Credit/ Debit Card. There is no fee for Female / SC / ST / PH Candidates.

UPSC Geo Scientist Selection Process:

✔️ Stage-I: Combined Geo-Scientist (Preliminary) Examination (Objective type) having two papers for selection of the candidates for the Combined Geo-Scientist (Main) Examination. Marks secured in the Preliminary Examination will be counted for deciding the final merit.
✔️ Stage-II: Combined Geo-Scientist (Main) Examination (Descriptive Type) having three papers for selection of candidates for the Personality Test (Stage-III). Marks secured in the Main Examination will be counted for deciding the final merit.
✔️ Stage-III: Personality Test/ Interview.
